Safety Inspection 

To maintain a vehicle registration in our state, you must have your automobile inspected annually before renewal. When you bring in your car for inspection, we follow the required checklist, assessing the safety and roadworthiness of multiple components and features. Some of the physical items we check are seatbelts, doors, windows, the chassis, and the auto body. Doors must operate correctly, and the glass must not be cracked or compromised by other damage. The body and chassis must be structurally sound. We pay particular attention to potential damage from rust. We’re also required to check tires. They must be in good condition with sufficient minimum tread depth. Our technicians also check several mechanical elements. We inspect the braking system, including the brake fluid level, rotor condition, and brake pad thickness. We also inspect the suspension and steering, as well as all safety lighting, including headlights, turn signals, brake lights, and taillights. Other facets of the inspection include the integrity of the fuel and exhaust systems. These should function properly and be free of leaks. Our team also examines the wiring, battery, and other key components of the electrical system. We’ll also check the odometer, speedometer, wipers, horn, and mirror.  

Emissions Testing 

If your vehicle is registered in Chester County or other areas in the south-central part of the state, including Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, it must also meet emissions standards. The goal is to protect our shared environment and the air we breathe, particularly in areas of high risk. If the check engine light is on, your automobile will not pass the test. That’s one of the reasons it’s helpful to use an inspection station like ours, which is connected to a reputable repair shop where problems can be corrected competently and quickly. Exceptions to the emissions rules include vehicles with odometer readings of less than 5,000 miles and antique or classic models that are more than 25 years old.
